SONIC Composite (Hubei) Co., Ltd

Specializing in advanced carbon fiber composites, SONIC focuses on the R&D, production, and sales of premium water sports equipment. At full capacity, the facility has the ability to manufacture a yearly output of up to 100000 composite parts such as OC1, SUP and dragon boat paddles, 60000 sets of hydrofoils or similiar composite and metal parts, 20000 EPS core composite parts, such as surfboards, windsurf boards, foil boards and similar products, which includes the capacity to produce our own SCC (shell composite construction) boards and items, 1000 dragon boats, OC1 and OC6 style composite products. Currently, Phase 1 is operational with a workforce of 300 employees. The company holds 3 invention patents and 19 utility model patents, with 3 additional invention patents under review.

With deep-rooted expertise dating back to 2005, SONIC relocated from Guangdong to Hubei through an investment initiative, bringing two decades of technical excellence in water sports equipment manufacturing.

HISTORY

Development Path

2005

Founded by Edward Luk, Sonic Composites sets up its first headquarters in Heshan with a focus on SUP paddle manufacturing exclusively in prepreg construction.

2012

With a growing reputation and demand in paddle manufacturing, Sonic Composites relocates the general office to Xinxu Town, Huizhou. In addition, a Thailand branch is established to meet customer consolidation needs with other composite products.

2015

Merged the Thailand branch into the Huiyang plant, vigorously promoted domestic paddleboarding, and cooperated with local governments and sports bureaus to hold paddleboard events, with an average of 5-7 paddleboard events per year.

2016

The establishment of the paddleboard self-owned brand "404", in the "Dameisha Yacht Club" and "Shenzhen Xichong" established the "Mahalo Sports Club", which is the first domestic paddleboard club.

2018

Sonic Composites deepens its connection to the watersports market by actively getting involved into the sport and establishes its own water sports propelled brand “UmiEmotor”, while increasing the dragon boat paddle manufacturing nationally.

2019

The company has been recognized as a national-level high-tech enterprise.

2022

Settled in Qingji Industrial Park, Jingzhou Public Security, Hubei Province, with a planned investment of 200 million yuan, covering an area of 112 acres (74,500 square meters) of water sports equipment industrial park. Another step closer to establishing an operation than can serve as a high end 1 stop shop for atersports composite equipment manufacturing while tightening the involvement into the sports for an unparalleled understanding of the customers needs.

2023

It was rated as a "specialized, special and new enterprise" by the Ministry of Public Information and Information Technology, and was awarded the "Paddleboard Equipment Cooperation Unit" by the Hubei Provincial Sports Bureau.

2024

With the Olympics happening in 2024 we established Sonic Composites as a IOC and World Sailing Federation supplier seeing exclusively Sonic manufactured IQ Windsurfing foils compete in the Olympics and in all international IQ foil events.

2025

Sonic Composites SCC production line becomes operational. With a growing customer base in all segments Sonic Composites further elevates the internal development structure to provide additional development support to its customers while adding autoclave manufacturing options to the portfolio.
